The Adventure Sports Academy is a leading institution for adventure sports training in Andhra Pradesh, established to enhance the standards, safety, and professionalism of the adventure tourism sector. Envisioned as India’s first-of-its-kind government initiative, the academy is an initiative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh with a mission to build a skilled, certified, and industry-ready adventure workforce. Situated in the iconic destination of Gandikota, one of India’s fastest-growing adventure tourism hubs, the academy delivers certified adventure training programs guided by experienced instructors and expert advisors from across the country.
The academy focuses on practical, hands-on learning, combining modern safety protocols with real-world exposure to ensure high-quality training standards. In addition to technical skills, the Adventure Sports Academy of Andhra Pradesh provides internships, field experience, and continuous mentorship, enabling participants to build successful careers in adventure tourism, outdoor education, and expedition leadership. With a strong commitment to sustainability, community development, and employment generation, the academy is playing a key role in positioning Andhra Pradesh as a premier destination for adventure sports in India.

Our Story
The Founding Story
Established in 2018 through a strategic government initiative, Adventure Sports Academy of Andhra Pradesh (ASAAP) was born out of a profound belief in the transformative power of nature. Identified the Gandikota Gorge—often called the ‘Grand Canyon of India’—and the monolithic rock formations, river and open lands as world-class training grounds that were previously underutilised.
By establishing our headquarters here, Adventure Sports Academy built an institution that not only provides elite adventure training but also uplifts by empowering the youth, turning them into certified instructors, guides, and stewards of the environment.

Decorated Indian Air Force officer with extensive experience in high-altitude operations, para-jumping, and search-and-rescue. Oversees the Academy’s defence liaison programmes and para sports curriculum.

Specialist in wilderness medicine and high-altitude physiology. Designs the Academy’s first-aid, emergency response, and athlete health protocols — keeping every trainee safe in the field.

2018: The Foundation
ASAAP was conceptualised, and Gandikota was chosen as the opt location, and the site was secured in partnership with the state government.
2019: Official Inauguration
The academy officially opened its doors, welcoming the first batch of 50 students for the Course.
Beyond: Expansion
With certified graduates, our vision is to expand our infrastructure across the state of Andhra Pradesh, creating a state-wide network of adventure hubs.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need prior experience to join a certification course?
No prior experience is necessary for our basic level courses. We start from the absolute fundamentals to ensure every trainee builds a solid foundation in adventure sports. Our experienced instructors will guide you through all safety and technical aspects step-by-step.
Is accommodation and food included in the program fee?
Yes, all of our residential courses include dormitory-style accommodation and three nutritious, locally-sourced meals a day. Our campus is fully equipped to cater to the dietary needs of athletes training in high-intensity environments.
What safety standards and medical facilities do you provide?
Adventure Sports Academy follows strict safety standards aligned with national adventure guidelines and industry best practices. All programs are conducted under trained instructors using certified safety equipment, activity-specific SOPs, and proper risk assessment procedures. The academy provides first-aid support, trained emergency response staff, oxygen and essential medical equipment for selected activities, along with evacuation plans and tie-ups with nearby hospitals and ambulance services to ensure participant safety during all training programs and expeditions.
